Why is Warren Buffett still hanging on to Sirius XM?

So, Berkshire Hathaway’s latest SEC filing shows that Buffett holds a massive 376 million shares of Sirius XM. In a world of Spotify and Apple Music, what’s the play here? Is there some upside to Sirius that we’re not seeing, or is Buffett holding onto it for another reason?

Probably for all those autonomous vehicles roaming around.

They’ve got valuable spectrum rights, which could be worth a lot on their own. Plus, if you look at their financials, Sirius has solid fundamentals. Sounds like the kind of steady, cash-generating business Buffett likes.

@Tate
Can those spectrum rights be used for things like satellite-to-phone tech?

Satellite-to-phone isn’t too hard, but getting the signal from phone to satellite is tricky.

@Kitt
Just ask Iridium about it.

Edit: Depends on the frequency they use too. Different bands might make it easier or harder.

Businesses love it too. Walk into a department store, and if you hear music, there’s a good chance it’s Sirius XM.

@Zen
Exactly, retail stores, restaurants—they’re all using it.

Actually, there are dead spots near tall buildings, mountains, and tunnels.

Yeah, I’ve had dropouts around New England in different cars with Sirius XM.

I get dead spots too, even on a quick trip to the grocery store. The online stream works better for me.

@Marlon
Are you in a city with lots of tall buildings?

@Marlon
Same here, dead spots all over my neighborhood, and even when it works, it feels pricey compared to other options.
