What Maverick did you order and what’s it replacing?

I went with an Area 51 Lariat Hybrid. It’s going to replace my wife’s Explorer, which is also our main family car.

The Explorer replaced a Lincoln MKC that worked fine until we had our kid. Once we had a baby in the backseat, the MKC lost most of its storage space since the seats couldn’t fold anymore.

The Explorer is roomy but feels oversized most of the time. It’s a hybrid, so the MPG isn’t bad, but it’s just too bulky for everyday use in town.

I think the Maverick fits perfectly for what we need. The price is fantastic, even for the Lariat. It has good interior space, and with a solid bed cover, there’s plenty of covered cargo room. The MPG is a big win too. Even if it doesn’t quite hit Ford’s claims, it’s still super economical.

I do wish the hybrid had an AWD option, but since we’re in the South, it’s not a must-have. I’ve also got a 4WD F-150 for the rare occasions we get snow.

I’m waiting for my dealership to call me back, but I’m planning on reserving an XL or XLT with the tow package and the 2.0 EcoBoost engine. I’ll be towing small campers and trailers. Still deciding on the color!

@Thayer
There are some great color options! XLT is definitely the best value in my opinion. I would’ve picked it, but my wife wanted leather seats.

Out of curiosity, why are you choosing the Maverick for towing instead of something like a Ranger?

@Zen
Price was a big factor. If you want more than just the basic work truck, the Maverick is way more affordable. Plus, I’m not a fan of the newer Ranger’s design. I drove one while deployed overseas, and it was pretty underwhelming. Also, I really like the unibody design on the Maverick.

@Thayer
That makes total sense. I’m not a big fan of the Ranger’s look or price either. By the time you spec one out, you’re almost in F-150 territory.

I’m leaning towards the First Edition Lariat but can’t decide between the hybrid for MPG or the AWD for winter weather.

Same here. I wish the MPG numbers for the turbo were out already.

What exactly does the First Edition come with? I remember seeing it as an option but didn’t dig into it.

@Zen
It’s mostly just badges, a few limited color options, and some stickers. Nothing too crazy, haha.

It also comes with a moonroof if I remember right. That’s the main reason I’d consider the First Edition if it’s still available later.

I’m going hybrid. I’m not towing anything, and FWD is fine in my area during the winter. I just want a nice commuter, so I also went with the First Edition.

I just ordered an XLT Luxury Hybrid yesterday. Super excited to get it!

That’s awesome! Were you able to fully place the order? Did they give you any estimated delivery time?

@Zen
Yep, the order is in. The dealership said I should get a confirmation email soon. They didn’t give me a solid delivery date, but they’re hoping for sometime this fall.

Good to know. Thanks for the update!

I ordered a Cactus Grey XL Hybrid to replace my 2014 Focus ST. It just went into production two days ago!

I’m replacing a RAV4 but haven’t reserved yet because I can’t decide on a color.

Totally understand! There are so many good color options.

My dealer didn’t let me place a specific reservation yet. They just told me I have a spot in line, and they’ll reach out in a few months when they can officially take orders. I’m planning on a Lariat AWD to replace my Nissan Frontier.

@Addison
A lot of dealers seem to be misinformed. The order banks are actually open now, and some people have already received confirmation emails from Ford. Maybe let your dealer know and ask them to double-check.

@Toni
Thanks for letting me know! My dealer told me it would be another month or two, but I’ll call them today to check again.
